BNZ Lambton Quay 1901
BNZ Lambton Qual 1901

Bank of New Zealand, Lambton Quay, 1901
BFA Collection.
Architect: Thomas Turnbull.
NZHPT: register no. 212. Catergory I

Thomas Turnbull was probably the best known of Wellingtons early architects and this his most well known building (refered to on the council heritage register as BNZ no.1). The drawings are not dated but it was built in 1901. Crichton, McKay and Haughton were commissioned to carry out numerous alterations between 1946 and the early 1960s. The bank vacated all four buildings on the 'old bank' site in 1985 and they were later converted to a retail centre.
